Timestamps Overview

timestamps-overview

A timestamp is a record of working time; if a user arrives at work at 09:00 and begins working until their lunch break at 12:30, then a timestamp of 3.5 hours will be recorded. Every time a user changes their task, takes a break or stops tracking time, a record of that activity is stored in the form of a timestamp.

A timestamp includes the name of the employee, the start time and end time of that activity, as well as displaying the duration. If you are using the Project Time Tracking solution, then the timestamp will also show information relating to the project and task that the user was working on.

Purpose of Timestamps

Timestamps allow employees to see their records of working times. Managers can see the timestamps of all the users within their department.

Timestamps can be viewed in the Calendar and Timestamps menus. Employees can also view their timestamps to confirm their working hours; if there are any discrepancies, the employee can submit a request to edit the timestamp.

For more information on viewing and editing timestamps, please take a look at the Calendar and Timestamps: List View sections.
